Charlotte Warr Andersen Fish Quilt at Show March 16-18

Sackets Harbor, NY -- The work of Charlotte Warr Andersen, an internationally-respected quiltist will be on display at the Seaway Trail Quilt Show and Competition March 16-18 in Sackets Harbor, NY. Andersen, an artist who works with fabrics, is known for creating one-of-a-kind pictorial quilts using a unique appliqué and layering technique. “The Catch,” an appliqued fish theme wall hanging made by Andersen will join the Great Lakes Fish theme show and competition at the Seaway Trail Discovery Center at Ray and West Main Streets.

“We are honored to have a Charlotte Warr Anderson quilt as a special feature of our 7th annual show,“ says Seaway Trail Foundation President Teresa Mitchell. “Her work has a clever shimmery overlay that makes the trout look likes it is in water.”

Warr of Salt Lake City, Utah, says, “I enjoy creating realistic and representational images from the unlikely medium of fabric. I am pleased to have one of my quilts as a special feature of the Seaway Trail show.”

The Seaway Trail Quilt Show and Competition opens Friday, March 16 with a 6-7:30 pm preview and will feature Great Lakes Fish theme quilts and wallhangings from 10 am to 5 pm Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. The program includes a daily 1 pm presentation on Quilting and Fishing for Both Sexes by quilter and Bassmaster JoAnne Flood, demonstrations, a quilt designed by first graders, a booth by the Fort Drum chapter of Operation Kid Comfort and vendors with fabrics, notions, quilting machines, and baskets.

Admission covering all three days of the show is $4 and benefits the Seaway Trail Foundation that operates the Seaway Trail Discovery Center in the former historic Union Hotel (1817-1818) that is owned by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
