The Great Lakes Seaway Trail will be the destination for the Wildfowl and Wetlands
Trust (WWT) Photo Contest Photographer of the Year award winner. A collaboration
between Seaway Trail, Inc., Sackets Harbor, NY, and the New York State Division of
Tourism is sponsoring this competition that requires photos in all but one category be
taken in the nine wetland centers located in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland.
The Photographer of the Year will receive airfare aboard Continental Airlines, car rental,
4-night stay between Buffalo and Alexandria Bay, a copy of the Birding the Great Lakes
Seaway Trail field guide and dinner with author Gerry Smith sometime in the spring of
2011.
"Seaway Trail, Inc. is pleased to participate in this international partnership with the
Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and the New York State Division of Tourism to showcase
the natural resources to photographers who enjoy the wetlands resources of the United
Kingdom. We hope they will be inspired to travel here to experience the natural journey
along the Great Lakes Seaway Trail," said Seaway Trail, Inc. President and CEO Teresa
Mitchell.
"Our Great Lakes Seaway Trail byway adds delightful and unexpected experiences to a
New York vacation. New York State's Division of Tourism is happy to collaborate with
the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust and Seaway Trail, Inc. in making this fabulous showcase
prize possible," said Markly Wilson, Director of International Marketing for the New
York State Division of Tourism.
The 2010 Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Photo Contest honors Lady Scott, the late wife of
Sir Peter Scott. She worked for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) and produced
beautiful photographs of its nine WWT centers from 1947 until her death earlier this
year.
The 2010 competition closes October 31, 2010. You can vote for your favorite
