UK Photographer of the Year Visits Great Lakes Seaway Trail

Great Lakes Seaway Trail, NY – Great Britain’s Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) Photographer of the Year Naomi Roper of Sunderland, England, won a week-long visit to the Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway and a visit to New York City. New York State’s Division of Tourism, Continental Airlines, and Seaway Trail, Inc., Sackets Harbor, NY, sponsored the trip.

Roper and her husband Andrew visited two iconic destinations of the byway: the 1000 Islands and Niagara Falls. They took photographs in natural and scenic areas and at attractions, including Alexandria Bay, the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Discovery Center in Sackets Harbor, Derby Hill Bird Observatory at Mexico Point, Oswego, Webster, and Braddock Bay Bird Observatory west of Rochester.

At the announcement of Roper’s award, New York State Division of Tourism European PR Coordinator David Gale said, “Sparkling waters, nature centers, walking trails, and birds galore across four seasons make the 833.6km (518-mile) Great Lakes Seaway Trail a spectacular natural touring destination.”
