Great Lakes Seaway Trail Meets September 16 in Niagara Falls, NY

Niagara Falls, NY –  On Friday, September 16, 2011, Seaway Trail, Inc. will meet at 1pm at the Four Points by Sheraton, 7001 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. The not-for-profit organization develops and promotes travel and tourism along the 518-mile National Scenic Byway that parallels the freshwater shoreline of New York and Pennsylvania.

Presentations at the member meeting that is open to the public include:

  • Details on the first-ever Great Lakes Seaway Trail Volkssport Association VolksWalk, a War of 1812 theme event set for September 24, 2011
  • Aerial photos of the byway’s recreational boating project
  • The one-year multi-thousand dollar economic impact of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail project
  • War of 1812 Bicentennial projects, including an 1812-style quilt show set for March 17-18, 2012
  • The Sailors, Keepers, Shipwrecks and The Maid guidebook project
  • a summary preview of the new Great Lakes Seaway Trail Sustainable Byway Planning Webinars and supporting resources for municipalities, organizations and citizen planners;
  • the latest member survey results, and
  • a new member discount program.

A more in-depth presentation on the Sustainable Byway planning webinars, appropriate for meeting state training requirements for local planning and zoning boards, will be offered from 10am-11:30am.
