New Great Lakes Seaway Trail Sustainable Byway Planning Webinars Preview in Niagara Falls September 16
Niagara Falls, NY – On Friday, September 16, 2011, 10am-11:30am at the Four Points by Sheraton, 7001 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, the Great Lakes Seaway Trail will preview its new Seaway Trail Sustainable Byway Planning Webinars. David Cutter, a Cornell University landscape architect and former Seaway Trail, Inc. planner, has developed a series of educational webinars and supporting resources for use by municipalities, organizations and citizen planners in byway communities.
The Great Lakes Seaway Trail is a National Scenic Byway that parallels 518 miles of freshwater shoreline in New York and Pennsylvania.
The September 16th presentation will include highlights from four webinar highlight topics:
- Great Lakes Seaway Trail byway programs and benefits to communities, members and users;
- Roadway management utilizing a complete streets model for byways;
- Visual and scenic issues within the byway corridor; and
- Green infrastructure from regional planning to site-specific stormwater practices.
The webinars present effective regulatory and non-regulatory tools.
The September 16th presentation is appropriate for meeting state training requirements for local planning and zoning boards; those attending should confirm acceptability with local officials. The presentation is targeted for municipal officials but all interested parties are welcome.
